Neighbourhood Sanctums vol. 1 is the first of a series of publications on temples in Taiwan. Pengkuei Ben Huang has been returning to his homeland regularly in recent years and was intrigued by the prevalence of temples on every street corner. He began to document them to illustrate this overwhelming reality to the islanders while attempting to understand the society that had become alien to him.
